Hi. Mel from AOH here. This is the most personal blog post I’ve shared on our page which is a bit uncomfortable but worth it...
This year marks 10 years cancer free for me. Being diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 with 2 young kids was pretty terrifying! But thanks to research and incredible family and community support we got through it.👊
So when I saw that community group ‘SUP Girls Gold Coast’ had organised a ‘pink paddle’ in support of breast cancer awareness I couldn’t wait to be there.
I rounded up a few girlfriends, and as it turned out all of our daughters were free and able to join us, which made it extra special. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and we all had a lot of fun chatting, exploring the creek on our SUPs, and making new friends. Community is so important to me so today was really special!
After my cancer treatment had finished Adam and I decided to embark on a new adventure, our little family business, Action Outdoor Hire, based at Tallebudgera Creek in Palm Beach, hiring all kinds of recreational equipment, including stand up paddle boards, which has led me here to this community today. Full circle moment! Feeling so grateful for all who have supported us along the way.
Thank you to Kim from SUP Girls Gold Coast for organising today and to all of the awesome women who joined us.💕
